Meet the Herd

This is my small herd, who I care for.

Meet Sue

A dedicated Registered Nurse with 35 years of experience in the health industry. I have a strong foundation in Trauma and Emergency care. My extensive experience has equipped me with unique insights into the emotional and psychological needs of individuals in crisis.

Throughout my career in emergency management settings, I have recognised the importance of creating safe spaces for people to explore and process their emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Curating these spaces is something I believe to be crucial for enhancing overall wellbeing—especially for those facing challenging circumstances.

From a young age, I have loved horses, having cared for and worked with them since the age of 13. This lifelong connection has honed my ability to understand their actions, needs, and overall well being. As I have continued to grow I have become aware of the profound therapeutic effects that animals, particularly horses, can have on individuals.

I completed courses in Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) and Equine Assisted Practitioner (EAP) at Equine Psychology Institute in 2022 to learn how to share the benefits of equine connection. Further I moved on to deepen my mental health practitioner knowledge by completing a Mental Health First Aid course for safety and a specialised unit in Adolescent Mental Health from the University of South Australia. 2025 is bringing big changes as well, I am now studying to achieve my Mental Health Nursing degree whilst working in community Mental health space as a Mental health clinician.

Living on a small property in Moonta, South Australia, on the picturesque Yorke Peninsula, I care for my small herd of four horses, along with a very talkative white husky dog (Ghost) and four cats living their best lives. Committed to animal welfare, I volunteer with a local cat rescue organisation, often providing foster care for cats and kittens in need.

Through my work and my compassionate approach, I am dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey to healing and self-discovery, harnessing the unique bond between humans and animals to promote emotional growth and resilience.
